An Historical Investigation Of The Formation Of Anshun Tunpu Culture Region

Tunpu culture as the unique culture phenomenon in Anshun had aroused general concern of the scholars in the fields of history,sociology,anthropology,ethnology. Tunpu culture had six hundred years history.Today this area still reserved its original culture tradition intact,with its unique local characteristics.Different villages,families and individuals followed almost exactly the same tradition and custom and existed as one whole culture body.What was the reason for the this ? Placing it in the inner-family relations this paper will have an historical investigation of the formation of Tunpu culture.The study will use multi-discipline approach.The formation of the Anshun cultural region resulted from the administration of Ming Dynasty in the Southwest frontier region.It also benefited from the military immigrants of the Ming Dynasty.The policy of sending the northern soldiers to conquer the south and the northern people to the south moved a lot of the Han people to Anshun. Those people were the early Tunpu residents.They brought with them their own culture when they moved to Anshun.In the process of culture communication,they absorbed their neighboring cultures while maintained their own cultural identity.In this way they formed the present unique cultural region.Anshun Tunpu cultural existed in Southwest China for 600 years,showing to the world its unique characteristics.Its Economic characteristics were:they emphasized on farming.People were good at Trading and Industry.Settlement patterns naturally fit highly with the history.The women there did not bind their feet.They had their own dress style as well.People there still kept their own language.In art they had a strong military features.People there had a strong sense of ancestors worship.In demographic constitution,Han people were the majority.In social structure:people were bound by ties of blood and region.The Anshun Tunpu cultural region was actually the reconstruction of the Han immigrants' cultural region.From the view of its forming process,it has experienced 600 years of the development.It was not a sudden change of the southern Chinese culture,but a continuous construction after the transplantation of their original culture. So it was a constructed culture region.It can be seen from its culture characteristics that the present Tunpu culture contained a large number of its original culture characteristics. So it can be said that it belong to Han immigration culture.
