Tsutomu Minakami is a well-known novelist in Japan, who enjoy incredible high reputation in Japan. His masterpieces, "YanTemple", "Echizenbamboosponse" have been identified as masterpieces of Japanese literature; His works received various types of literary awards. Tsutomu Minakami's works were being translated into Chinese from the 1980s, which have gained a warm welcome from readers. However, researches to Tsutomu Minakami's works are not satisfactory. On one hand, few researchers involved, the number of related papers is small; on the other hand, the research results are limited, the research methods are underdeveloped, the studies are not in-depth, and the research results on Tsutomu Minakami did not agree with his status in the republic of letters of Japan. Therefore this article attempts to make its own efforts on researching Tsutomu Minakami's literature. This paper take the change of Tsutomu Minakami's style as the outbreak, which focuses on the belles-lettres creation after Tsutomu Minakami's change - the local novels which were set in his hometown as the background. The main question this paper to answer is: why did Tsutomu Minakami change his style? What is the uniqueness of his local novels? What is the reason of this special style? This article adopts the method of close reading texts combined with related literary theory; associate the author with his unique life experiences and background of the times. It attempts to outline the overall Tsutomu Minakami's writing image through the integrity research of his earlier and later writing, and tries to form a complete mental world of the author than before. His writing reveals the unique aesthetic of traditional Japanese style, and it conveys the author make the effort in pursuit of "traditional beauty" of Japan. This paper consists of two main parts: The first part mainly concerns about Tsutomu Minakami's change from writing local novels to writing social mystery novels. This part answered the question why Tsutomu Minakami changed his style through the integrity research and close reading his earlier and later writing. The second part focuses on his local novels. The writer summed up five characteristics of the Tsutomu Minakami's local world through the method of close reading texts combined with related literary theory: The first is the local colour; the second is the story of sharing distress; the third is feminine destiny in Tsutomu Minakami's local world; the fourth is the handicraftsman in the local world;the fifth is the special narration view of Tsutomu Minakami's story . By the above analysis, we can see the uniqueness of Tsutomu Minakami's local world, and also we can get an answer to the forming of unknown canyon's gloomy picture of custom.
