In Wei-Jin Dynasty, Ji Kang is a well-known writer, thinker and musician. He is one of the representatives in Wei-Jin metaphysics. Ruan Ji, Xiang Xiu, Shan Tao, Liu Ling, Ruan Xian, Wang Rong and Ji Kang are called Seven Magi of Bamboo. Ji Kang not only has unique theoretical insights, but also has a considerable wealth of music experience. Guang Lingsan which he played occupies a very important position in the Qin history of our country. Besides No Funeral Music Theory, which will be introduced in the thesis, Ji Kang also has other books about aesthetics of music, including Qin Fu and Ji Shi Si Nong (also named Chang Ce,Duan Ce, Chang Qing, Duan Qing).Ji Kang's work named No Funeral Music Theory is called an epoch-making work on aesthetics of music. Its basic point is"sound without sadness". The full thesis applies the way of questions and answers between two persons named Qinke and Dongyezhuren. The thesis is targeted to refute the traditional lack of aesthetic thinking. And then dissert his own thinking on aesthetics of music.This thesis will use Ji Kang's No Funeral Music Theory as the base of the research. The thesis includes seven parts: theoretical basis of Ji Kang's thinking on aesthetics of music; the philosophical basis of his thinking; appraisal of Ji Kang's personality; whether or not to promote"Silent music"and"the Voice of Zheng"; the interpretation of tone and sound; whether the thesis belongs to"self-discipline"or not. By the illustration of the details of seven parts, we will understand the study of Ji Kang's No Funeral Music Theory in the academic world. We will summarize the academic point of view and discuss writer's opinion.This thesis strives to study Ji Kang's work No Funeral Music Theory as a breakthrough in order to understand Ji Kang's personality charm and the essence of aesthetic ideology as well as to learn his contribution to the development of music in Wei-Jin and dynasties afterward. Finally the thesis aims to show the academic value and practical significance of Ji Kang's work and provide references for the development of music and theoretical research nowadays.
