This dissertation constitutes the rewriting of Nineteenth-Century English Literary Canon over Chinese Foreign Literary History.Combing the process to the western Canon-reconstruction in China,it can investigate the relationship between Chinese Foreign Literary History and the Western Canon-reconstruction,which includes the motive,influence,strategy and effect of the reconstruction.The thesis considers that there are two motives at the beginning of the rewriting on Chinese Foreign Literary History:One is the conversion of the concept of literary history that makes people revise the past principle of the Canon-formation,and let it be more objective and credible;the other is according to the practice of teaching and learning Foreign Literature,so that the teaching material and the canon in it can be scientific and practical in with the times.In the process of the Canon-reconstruction,it is restricted by some elements,includes ideology,poetics and cultural study,which would save or remove the canon in literary history.Confront with it,Canon-reconstruction in Chinese Foreign Literary History makes use of some strategies:re-select,re-evaluate and re-interpret Western Canon.In the dissertation,the candidate points out that there is some difference of the value of recognition between China and England,after analyzing some canonize case of 19 century English important authors and their works.Further more,it evinces that the substance of this difference is the localization of Chinese Foreign Literary History,consist of Chinese opinion and local Cultural Identity construction.It should have the initiate with the Chinese local conscious in propagating and inheriting western canon,so that would not be confused or lost under the infiltration of foreign theory. |
