Islamic Mosque Education In Xining And It's Cultural Function

The main thrust of this thesis deals with the subject of Islamic Mosque Education (Jing Tang Jiao Yu) in Xining,Qinghai and it's Cultural function.Through the references from studies of Folklore,Anthropology and Field research,the thesis considers the development,structure,cultural values,and some of the existing problems of Mosque Education in the Hui community of Xining.Some suggestions are also made for possible ways forward.Chapter 1 addresses the social and cultural background of Mosque Education, Chapter 2 looks at the system of Mosque Education and it's curriculum followed while Chapter 3 looks closely at the cultural function of Mosque Education.Mosque Education plays the inevitable role in the Islamic belief and Hui community.The Mosque is the center of the Hui culture and it has drawn profound and extensive cultural function in the community.Islamic Mosque education cannot be separated from the Hui lifestyle and their daily community activity.Beginning of the Hui studies should be with Islamic background,the importance of cultural influence by Mosque Education cannot be ignored.However,under world's modernization,Islamic Mosque Education also faces a lot of problems,such as the conflicts between old teachings and new teachings,public education and religious education.It will certainly be valuable to have further study on this subject.This thesis is divided into 5 parts,introduction,three chapters and conclusion; 31,000 characters altogether.
