The Study On The Trends In The Design Of The Contemporary Chinese Characters Under The Global Plural Cultural Pattern

The design of the contemporary Chinese characters is based on the excellent culture and enjoys a great wide application. In addition, it plays a very significant role in the field of contemporary Chinese visual conveyance. How does the design of the modern Chinese characters keep pace with the times and the need of the market? How to eliminate the dilemma? How to narrow the gap between China and the world? The advancement of the world needs the synchronic language of the design, while the trend that design internationalizes also appears in this irresistible historic trend. Meanwhile, the concept that the design should be localized should be paid more attention. How to explore the features of our local culture and how to apply the eastern cultural philosophy into contemporary visual patterns to reflect the times spirit is a significant task that Chinese character designers are confronted with. It is also an important target in the development of Chinese characters in the future.Though we have made some progress in the design of Chinese characters, but it is not satisfactory because of the existence of "loss of the local culture", "mock local culture" or "blind following". In my perspective, under the global plural cultural pattern, the design of Chinese characters should base on the three principles. First, the localization of the design of Chinese characters should seek for the essence of the Chinese philosophy. And the essence of the local culture should be mixed with it firmly. Second, the six methods with which the ancient people created the characters is not only a unique art in China but also a very useful visual expression, which also provides the evidence for the localization of the design. Thirdly, China has a long history, there are a lot of typical cultural drawings and patterns. We should make full use of these drawings and patterns, which can help to localize the design.The local awareness of the design of Chinese characters should not be distorted as being static or being nostalgic. The design of Chinese characters should be a combination of the local culture and times spirit. We should understand the nature of times spirit and focus on the combination of the merging awareness and innovation.The design of the Chinese culture should be based on the local culture to find a way to advance.
