Color And Personality

Color is an important source of human information as an important part of environment.Corresponding mentafion variation could take place when color changes. Despite the subjective initiative of psychology,close correlation still exist between color preference and personality characteristics.What is the relevance and how does it work? Is there a corresponding map function relationship between the colors' physical stimulation and our psychological feeling? Whether color preference can reflect people's personality, interpersonal behaviour and others?Based on the above-mentioned idea,the present research tried to use artificial neural networks and the principal component analysis to explain the mapping relationship between the physical stimulation and our psychological feeling.Artificial neural network approach is also applied in exploring the relationship between color preference and personality.Meanwhile results also showed the validity of many-to-one relationship between the two variables.Findings of this research are as follows:(1)Corresponding mapping point to physical characteristics can be found in the psychological space.Results pointed out that this test can precisely predict the true feeling of colors.It also verified the phenomenon which people will produce the psychological feelings when they see some colors in the daily life.(2)ANN reveals the predicting relationship between the color preferences and the personality characteristics quite accurately.To some extent,color preferences can be used as the indicators of personality characteristics,which provide a new direction for the traditional personality tests.That is we can explain and predict peoples' personality through a brief color preference tests using the ANN approach.(3)Hierarchical clustering analysis proves our assumption that there is many-to-one relationship between the color preferences and personality characteristics.The above results proved that the ANN can play a significant role in the psychological tests,as well as intelligent expert system building in the future psychological test.
