Study On Shen Chongsui' Theory Of Kunqu

Being one of the most important theorists of Kunqu of Ming Dynasty, Shen Chongsui is another landmark in the history of the development of Kunqu after Wei Liangfu. Shen Chongsui'theory of Kunqu ,which is mainly embodied in two works he wrote named Handbook for Qu-singing and Correcting mispronunciation in singing of Xiansuo-Qu, focus on the pronunciation in singing Kunqu. By his attempts and efforts, a criterion system of the pronunciation in Qu-singing had been set up, which made a great impact on later generations. The study of Handbook for Qu-singing being the framework and the views of Correcting mispronunciation in singing of Xiansuo-Qu being discussed as well, taking text-explanation and inter-evidence between text and history as two main researching methods, referring to the previous relevant study of other people, this thesis trying to place Shen Chongsui and his theory into his specific time to study. With researching Shen Chongsui's viewpoints on such topics as the relationship between Northern Qu and Southern Qu , the singing methods of the four tones, the singing methods of the three parts of Zi(head, belly and tail), the relationship between standard language and dialect and so on, to understand and evaluate Shen Chongsui's theory on a whole objectively and correctly is the ultimate goal of this paper.
