The present situation about poor college students' level of aspiration is one of the higher education managers' top concerns and the relationship between level of aspiration and self-esteem is also one of the focuses in psychological studies.After questionnaires on poor college students' level of aspiration are drawn up,based on questionnaires and IAT,poor college students' level of aspiration is explored and then comparison between poor college students and non-poor college students is studied. Finally,from conscious level and unconscious level,the relationship between self-esteem and level of aspiration is discussed in detail.In the 1ststudy,based on related theories,individual interview and some specialists' suggestions,the original questionnaires of the poor college students' level of aspiration and career original questionnaires are worked out.289 subjects are asked while exploring factors are analyzed and later these factors are named.In order to test the examining factors,the reliability and validity of the questionnaire,another 322 subjects are asked.The research shows that the questionnaires have high reliability and validity which can be used to investigate level of aspiration of college students in China.742 college students from 5 universities in He'nan province participate in the 2nd study,including freshman,sophomore and junior.The main concentration is on the differences of level of aspiration between poor college students and non-poor college students.The relationship between self-esteem and level of aspiration is studied from both implicit self-esteem and explicit self-esteem level.The results of the two studies are as follows:(1)There are clear differences in academic level of aspiration between poor college students and non-poor college students,but the differences on career level of aspiration are opposite. (2)The significant differences in implicit and explicit self-esteem between the two groups are not clear.The explicit self-esteem of boys is higher than that of girls,but there are no significant differences on implicit self-esteem.(3)There are no significant differences in implicit and explicit self-esteem of the poor college students.There is positive relation between explicit self-esteem and level of aspiration;there are no significant relationship between implicit self-esteem and level of aspiration.(4)The poor college students' implicit self-esteem doesn't play the role of adjustment between explicit self-esteem and level of aspiration.The discrepancy between implicit self-esteem and explicit self-esteem was significantly related to level of aspiration.
