Learner autonomy takes very important effect in language learning.Language teachers should elaborate completely students' function of main body.A student with autonomy can have sense of responsibilityand be responsible for his/her studying.He/she can have the ability of studying all through his/her life.For time being,with the raising of open up education,learner autonomy is of utmost importance in the education,however,many language learners in the current middle schools in China learn English with passive attitudes.This negative situation has been caused not only by the learners' affective problems, but also by the problems of learning strategies,the inadequacy of evaluation systems and the teachers' inappropriate contribution to their teaching process.The object of the research is the first year students.They haven't formed the habit of autonomy.It requires teachers to guide students' activities of newspaper-reading under constructivism and cognitive strategies,etc.Teachers use teaching method and means,and all the factors which are benefit to nurture students' autonomy to raise students' enthusiasm,Aftera year's research, we find the method is available.The data we got from the research shows newspaper-reading is good at nurturing students' autonomy in language learning.Of course,the research exists limitation:The ways of evaluation are not sufficient,it needs improving.If we utilize the result on other teaching means scientifically,such as TV,magazines and videos,and so on,I think it will get the same effect.
