Title, the short and brief sentence, is an indispensable part in texts or works like the banner of an army. Studying the features of title on language and speech style is helpful for exploring new language phenomena and rules.Firstly, this thesis summarizes various patterns of title in Modern Chinese language, analyzes the influence of social language on the title and induces the distinct features of title language from other language. Secondly, the recessive and dominant features of title are discussed. Thirdly, based on synchrony, this paper discusses the variation of title in grammar, phonologic and vocabulary according to certain pragmatic principles, showing the unique artistry of title language. Then, through diachronic linguistics, this thesis analyzes the influence of archaism and archaic title words on modern titles of Chinese language, and meanwhile clarifies the course of development for title language. It also reveals the evolution of title's speech style with the united research of Leech's"politeness principle"and China's traditional culture and moral concepts. Lastly, this thesis makes a profound research on some ambiguous titles dynamically with related pragmatic knowledge, providing a brand-new explanation for the ambiguity in titles.
