Vocational education training goal is to cultivate practical and creative talents. English reading teaching is very important in vocational English teaching. The results of English reading teaching in China's vocational and technical college can not keep up with the times. Students lose interest in English reading. The lack of an interest in reading and autonomy will result in lower reading ability of students. Inquiry learning can change this situation, with the characteristics of problem-solving, practicality and participatory. Inquiry learning highlights "student-oriented, comprehensive development of student ability," and is more suitable for the characteristics of higher vocational education.This paper uses literature and experiment research on how to use inquiry learning to English reading in vocational school and construct inquiry reading teaching mode. In the first two parts of the dissertation, the author deals with theoretic and practical significance of implementing inquiry learning in vocational school through discussing the domestic and foreign background and research situation. In the third part the author invests the problems existing in English reading in Daxing'anling Vocational School. By analyzing the reasons the author puts forward the idea that inquiry learning can improve the reading ability of students. In the fourth and fifth part, through specific experiments, the author expounds the feasibility of inquiry reading in vocational English teaching and the role of teachers and students should change in inquiry reading. Finally the author point out that inquiry reading teaching model can be constructed in vocational English teaching.In short, the inquiry learning is an advanced learning style. Inquiry teaching is an advanced teaching theory. Inquiry learning compensates for the lack of the traditional teaching of English reading; improve the efficiency of English reading teaching.
