Character And Relationship Research On Undergraduates' Environmental Values, Attitudes And Behaviors

Facing more severe environmental problems, the measures including sciences and technology, economy and law are not enough to solve them. For human's action is guided under some ideas, while the deepest idea is the people's values. So, the solutions of the environmental problems should be firstly discovered from the environmental values. Therefore, the right environmental values of people is the key measures to solve the ecology destroy and promote sustainable development.In this paper, paper review on environmental values, environmental attitudes and environmental behaviors were done firstly, and then, the final questionnaires were presented based on the domestic and international experience after refined and revised by the methods including expert consultation, factor analysis, belief and efficient analysis etc. The sample investigation was implemented by selecting the undergraduates of the different universities. The structure of environmental values, environmental attitudes and environmental behaviors of the undergraduates were identified, and the interaction and difference on environmental values, environmental attitudes and environmental behaviors, with the factors such as the sex, grade, belief, family etc., were presented. Moreover, the relativity of environmental values, environmental attitudes and environmental behaviors were analyzed. Finally, the relative models of undergraduates' environmental values, environmental attitudes and environmental behaviors were established by the path analysis methods.The conclusion shows:(1) The distinct difference on environmental values, environmental attitudes and environmental behaviors of undergraduates, with the factors such as the sex, grade, belief, family etc., was existent. Interaction was available between some indicators. (2) The difference of environmental values was existent in different undergraduates, and the up-to-down order is ecology balance, nature center and human center.(3) The difference of environmental attitudes was existent in different undergraduates, and the up-to-down order is energy saving, ecology environment, environmental public affair, living condition, population and economy background.(4) The difference of environmental behaviors was existent in different undergraduates, and the up-to-down order is energy saving, purchase, food, circling using, transportation, environmental supporting and waste avoidance.(5) The distinct relativity was existent in the different factors of environmental values and environmental attitudes. The positive relativity was existent between nature center, ecology balance and the different factors of environmental attitudes. Moreover, The positive relativity was also existent between the human center and the energy saving, population, environmental public affair, living condition, and economy background.(6) The distinct relativity was existent in the different factors of environmental behaviors and environmental attitudes. The positive relativity was existent between the factors of environmental attitudes including energy saving, population, environmental public affair, living condition, and economy background and the factors of environmental behaviors including energy saving, transportation, circling using, purchase, food. Moreover, the positive relativity was also existent in the factors of environmental attitudes including population, environmental public affair, living condition and environmental supporting.(7) The distinct positive relativity was existent in different dimensions of environmental values including nature center, human center, and ecology balance, and the different dimensions of environmental behaviors including energy saving, transportation, and purchase. The distinct positive relativity was existent in: human center vs. waste avoidance and food consumption; nature center vs. circle using and environmental supporting, ecology balance vs. circle using and food consumption.(8) The solutions of path analysis showed, the direct impact was existent in environmental values and environmental behaviors, and indirect relationship impact was existent in environmental attitudes and environmental behaviors, the two paths had the prediction action for environmental behaviors. Environmental attitudes was a "medium factors" in the impact of environmental behaviors. The direct impact was existent in environmental values to environmental attitudes. It was available to predict the environmental attitudes. Moreover, environmental attitudes had the direct impact to environmental behaviors.From the conclusion, to solve the environment problems radically, the key is to change human's environmental attitudes and environmental behaviors, but the essential thing is to establish the environmental values of human and nature harmonious coexistence. So it can use manifold ways to guide the undergraduates establishing right environmental values, to guide their environmental attitudes and environmental behaviors. It will be useful to help them establish healthy environmental attitudes and environmental behaviors.
