Conflicts Of The Elegant And The Vulgar

Controversy on elegant and vulgar literature embodies the change of literature conception.The article puts an emphasis on the trend of the literature conception after studying the controversy according to different literary genres and their works from the 1980s on.The article is divided into two sections.The first section focuses on the genres and their works,and takes the genre of Mandarin Duck and Butterfly and the fictions of Jin Yong as the case studies.The case studies of the genre of Mandarin Duck and Butterfly can be divided into three stages,and the research of the fictions of Jin Yong discusses three different opinions.The other section focuses on the elegant and vulgar literature researches in theoretical field.Firstly,it deals with the distinction of the elegant and vulgar literature.Secondly,it deals with the discussion on how to suit both the tastes of the elegant and the vulgar.Thirdly,it deals with the critical standard of light literature.After the reviews of the research on light literature from the 1980s, the conclusion of this article is,the status of the light literature has heightened,and the conception of the light literature is changing now.
