| Since the 1990s, Task-based Teaching Method (TBTM) starts to become an independent and systematic mode, and has been widely applied in foreign language teaching. TBTM applies various types of tasks, which offer students many opportunities to participate in the class and think independently under teacher's guidance. The method stimulates learners'interests and enthusiasm, therefore contributes to develop good learning habits and to achieve the capability of lifelong studies.Having been studying and practicing for over 20 years, TBTM has developed a set of scientific theories, which consist of many workable principles. It gives a great many enlightenments to the Scientific and Technological Translation (Sci-Tech Translation) teaching, where many problems and difficulties tend to arise, some of which are similar to those in other fields of foreign language teaching. It overcomes such weaknesses as"cramming"and"teacher-centeredness"appeared in conventional classes. Consequently, TBTM succeeded the merits of conventional teaching mode and is an innovative solution approved and suggested by the foreign language academia. The author, as a teacher of Sci-Tech Translation, aims to exploit a good combination of TBTM with Sci-Tech Translation teaching. Through the in-class application of TBTM, and byway of questionnaires, talks and assessments, the author compares TBTM with conventional method and manages to test the actual effectiveness, especially the students'acceptance. Provided that TBTM is workable and effective both theoretically and practically, it will certainly contribute to the corresponding pedagogical reform in China. The TBTM, hopefully, may overcome the weaknesses of the conventional approach and improve Sci-Tech Translation teaching effects. |
