On Shen Congwen's Liberal Literary Outlook

This article divides into five major parts. The introduction part briefly introduced some relevant study about Shen Congwen's liberal literary outlook. The first chapter teased the connotation of western liberalism and the vein of it's development, introduced the development process of Chinese liberalism, educed the conception of Chinese liberal literature. Under the premise of Shen Congwen was a liberalism, the second chapter elaborated the connotation of Shen Congwen's liberal literary outlook from four aspects: 1, through reversed a verdict about the "beheads" event, explained that Shen Congwen was a person who persisted in the enlightening outlook on literature; 2, analyzed Shen Congwen's attitude to the construction of new-vernacular literature: believed in Hu Shi's reformism, insisting in the post consciousness; 3,described Shen Congwen's literary criticism which to the certain undesirable tendencies launches of revolutionary literature and Shanghai school literature, pointed out Shen Congwen's liberalism criticism view of literary: stressed that the literature must maintain an independence, avoided the disturbance of political and commercial, emphasized the literature must be art; 4,analyzed the creation process of Shen Congwen, pointed out that because of the influence of Floyd theory, Shen Congwen believed that composition was a divulging and subliming of emotion, and he attempted to construct a free human nature through healthy "sex". The third chapter analyzed the "independent character", "the doggedness temperament ", the making and the practical spirit in the Hu-Xiang Culture; pointed out the relation between Shen Congwen's liberal literary outlook and the Hu-Xiang culture. The conclusion part explained that Shen Congwen's liberal literary outlook was actually a successor of the idea of "human literature", which belonged to the May 4th times, Shen Congwen's literature has a permanent charm surmounting time.
