On The Structure Of "Verb+instrument Object" In Modern Chinese

The structure of"verb+object"is a kind of very important sentence structure in modern Chinese ,and the relationship between the verb and the object is complicated .For a long time many people have studied this structure .With the development of the research ,more and more people pay their attention to the subcategory .However ,the studies which combine"verb"with"object"are relatively few ,in another word ,there still have some space for the research .Three plans grammar theories are employed in the article to examine examples from"Verb Useage Dictiongary"which is Arrange by Meng Cong,Zheng huaide,etc,analyse and discuss the relation between the verb and the instrument object in terms of syntax,semantics and pragmatics .Firstly, the thesis distinguish instrument object from material object and way object in terms of form and meaning.Then analyse all the verb which dominates the instrument object and the examples.On syntax,the verb in the structure of"verb+instrument object"is infirm continuant verb, independent verb, monosyllabic verb,the instrument object in the structure can not be bedecked by adverbial modifier and quantifier.And they can be analogized under certain conditions.On semantics, the verb in the structure of"verb+instrument object"express the meaning of"use"which is abstract,the instrument component in the structure is model instrument in a general way.On pragmatics,the structure of"verb+instrument object"satisfy the principle of economy,and prominent the informationg focus.
