Study Of Official System Of Rouran

Rouran,or Juan-juan (蠕蠕) , Jou-jen (茹茹) ,Rui-rui (芮芮) , is the third ethnic group after Xiongnu and Xianbei. Rouran chieftain shih-lun established an empire and called "khan". Subdued in 555 by Turk, Rouran exist in the steppe of North china for 150 years.The political organizational system of Rouran complied with nomad society reality, patterned upon the modality of Xiongnu, Xianbei, and central China. The sovereigns of Rouran are Yujiulu clan during this period. At its rise, Rouran is a prosperous empire that reign over the steppe of North China and Western region. Turk and latter political organization was greatly influenced by official system of Rouran. The research of inheritance and development between Rouran and Central China, and other tribes of North China, should start with system.The whole dissertation consists of three major parts, with 47,000 words, and 4 charts. The introduction of dissertation gives a brief ancient documents of Rouran, the accomplishments of previous scholars and some creative ideas of my own. PartⅠaims at discussing the development and change of official system of Rouran. Official system of Rouran under the influence of Northern Wei, and other political organization, in different periods, the institution, form, and development of official system of Rouran were influenced by different political powers. PartⅡexplores the origin of official titles of Rouran. The author holds that official titles of Rouran originated from ancient appellation in the steppe of North China, such as Bagha, Irikin, from Central China , such as Zhuang Shuai (幢帅) . PartⅢresearchs the clan form of official of Rouran and characteristic of official system of Rouran. The form of official system of Rouran were relative to the clear line of "Tribe" and "Another tribe".
