The Pre-historical Human's Spirit Engraved In Rocks

As one of the typical representatives of primitive arts, the pre-historical petroglyph can be seen as the artistic reproduction of the human production and life in primitive society. By using the form of pictures, these petroglyph record soundlessly the thoughts and feelings of human beings in their primitive age. With the combination of primitive thoughts and religious beliefs, our ancestors held the idea that they are part of and in complete harmony with the nature. Thus, they didn't consider the nature as an independent object or an alien force. Rather, the nature is their homeland and living place.On the basis of study on the origin, shaping feature and artistic style of the petroglyph, this article analyzes the ideas of ecological aesthetics contained in primitive petroglyph from four aspects, including the natural ecology, the social ecology, the spiritual ecology and the influence on modern arts. The aim of the research is to re-discuss and explore human being's spiritual connotation in primitive age and to reflect the historical evolution of the relation between human being and the nature. It is expected that through the study we can finally find an effective prescription to the social and mental problems in present era, which leads us to the returning road of salvation of human spirit.
