This paper starts with the all-directional researches on the national style and artist achievement of traditional Chinese realistic figure painting, which stimulates thinking on the continuity of the national character against the diversified background of contemporary elaborate-style figure painting and expatiats on the origins of traditional and modern art. Especially with the frame of heritage the traditional Chinese realistic figure painting may take on, we make in-depth and careful instance studies and analysis on the history of distinctive features, continuity of national spirit, the new look of pluralistic development and the return of cultural spirit through a large number of outstanding masterpieces and interprets the features and inner inevitability of traditional Chinese realistic figure painting against diversified background. In hope of straightening out clear venation of the heritance and innovation in traditional culture, we endeavor to preserve the national character and modernity better in the process of fusion with foreign culture, in order to realize further development of Chinese realistic figure painting.By researching on the continuation of national spirit of Chinese realistic figure painting, this paper makes the point that it has the consistent heritage in such respects of art notion, material and medium, form and character.
