The Research On The Configuration Elements And Connotation Meaning Of The "Tao-tieh" Patterns In Shang And Zhou Dynasty

The "Tao-tieh" pattern is the most remarkable one during the Ornamental Art of Chinese Bronze Period.Then solve the mystery of the connotation of the "Tao-tieh" pattern must be the most effective and important means of illustrating Chinese ancient culture.Shang and Zhou Dynasty as the absence of relevant literature of the "Tao-tieh" pattern in Shang and Zhou Dynasty,coupled with the absence of a perspective has not yet been recognized by most Scholars.so there is still a big room for research of the "Tao-tieh" pattern's connotation meaning.In this paper,using the Art and history Reduction of the Art archaeology,from the main configuration elements of the "Tao-tieh" pattern which the research is relatively weak to Analysis it's prototype and connotation meaning.On this basis,with a view to put forward some new perspective of the "Tao-tieh" pattern's connotation meaning, and hope that through the research of the "Tao-tieh" pattern provide inspiration on the research of similar patterns in Art history.This paper is divided into five chapters,including the preface and concluding remarks.The preface give a briefed Introduction of the theoretic meaning on the subject and explain the aim and research methods of the paperThe first chapter is an overview of the "Tao-tieh" pattern in Shang and Zhou Dynasty,such as it's most important feature "eyes";Xi-Zhou Dynasty is the medium-term turning point of the "Tao-tieh" pattern decline;The scope of the objects decoratived by the "Tao-tieh" pattern are common,and no exclusivity and highly exclusive.The "Tao-tieh" pattern mainly decorate on the weapons and bronze sacrificial ware which made by bronze and jade material.,symmetric is the main characteristics of the "Tao-tieh" pattern composition;"Yun-lei pattern" and "Phoenix pattern" is the main support patterns of the "Tao-tieh" pattern.The second Chapter choose the "Tao-tieh" pattern's three major configuration elements,the face,horn and eyes,and their characteristics,give a classification.A dopted on the basis of the feature of reality animals,with the combination of archaeological relics unearthed related,gave a research of the "Tao-tieh" patterns prototype of the three main configuration elements of the configuration.The face's prototype is tiger;eyes's prototype are including eagle eye,owl eye and bovine and Etc.the angle's prototype are Including horns,croissants and staghorn.The third Chapter verificate that the connotations of the "Tao-tieh" pattern in Shang and Zhou Dynasty's three major configuration elements are reflect the of worship the tiger worship,eagle worship and horn worship.Tiger worship mainly reflect militarism and war-related signs;Eagle worship mainly reflect totem worship and the desire for the eagles flying ability and access to powerful predator ability and keen vision,and other physiological functions;horn worship mainly reflect the worship of the horn's power of animals,such as cattle,sheep,deer.The fourth Chapter came out the process of the combination of the "Tao-tieh" pattern in Shang and Zhou Dynasty Mainly elementsis.On the basis of the Shang Dynasty's inherent eagle totem worship,in the early of Shang Dynasty reference the tiger's face form the main body of the "Tao-tieh" pattern,in the late Shang Dynasty adds various shape angle to it,then formed the complete "Tao-tieh" pattern.then the "Tao-tieh" pattern is a composite image,it's configuration principle is a different set of animals's Representative genitals,the "Tao-tieh" patterns is Super animals having magical power and Ideal.In the Chinese and foreign art history there are lot's of images,which the Configuration of the original and the principle of configuration are similar as the "Tao-tieh" pattern.In the frist,the fifth Chapter select the important doctrine of the "Tao-tieh" pattern's connotation meaning,"ancestral God Doctrine" to analyze and questioned.
