A Study On The Exterior Causes Of Prosperity Of The Detective Story

The detective story ,which is an independent species of the literature, has already developed for more than 100 years, breaks down into various species, and it becomes an important species of the popular literature. It developed quickly between the end of the 19 centuries and the beginning of 20 centuries, and became a golden age of detective story.The researches by different scholars to the detective story, mostly concentrated on Narratology studying of the novel text, and the development of it. There are very few summarizes and researches of unprecedented development of the detective story in golden age. Thus this thesis tries to focus on this topic and manage to dig out reasons of its quick development of the period.The full thesis is divided into three parts: introduction, main body, and conclusion.The introduction part gives some research results of the detective story from scholars in and abroad.The thesis begins with three issues, say, society, authors and readers to analyze exterior reasons of prosperity of detective story. The social environment, the influence of society change to people's life style, the explosion of the world war, the development of technical science, the development of the city, even the development of the publisher, all of these influenced the prosperity of detective story. In the opinion of the authors, interest in new types of literature and regulations for writing etc were another important cause of prosperity of the detective story. And the mentality and the feedback of readers also promoted prosperity of it.The conclusion mentions simple introduction to the present development of detective story in and abroad.
