Ouyang Xiu Prose Classifies And Studies

Ouyang Xiu has been a distinguished proser in the northern Song Dynasty. He has led the ancient literary movement successfully, lifted up a new chapter in the prose development, and had a far-reaching effect on the Chinese literary history. As a man of letters, his effect was mainly realized by his prose composition in many different literary styles, which was developed to a very high degree.In recent years, there have been many scholars carrying out the study of Ouyang Xiu's prose works with great effort. But compared with the study of Han Yu's and Su Shi's works, the study of Ouyang Xiu's prose is weaker. Therefore, for a man of letters like Ouyang Xiu who has a very good virtue and is so good at literary composition, it is necessary for us to further the study of Ouyang Xiu's prose. Because most former study of Ouyang Xiu's prose focused more on his most popular prose works or the classification and study of his different styles and writing periods, there were few papers carrying out a comprehensive study of his prose. In this paper, the author attempts to be based the real situations of Ouyang Xiu's prose composition, carry out a tentative discussion on the classification of his prose articles, and try to present the whole thoughts, contents and artistic characteristics of his prose in a more comprehensive and clearer way.
