Translation has always been the important tool of communication in the cross-cultural exchanges. However, due to the status gap and unequal power relations between different cultures caused by imbalanced, political and economic development, the translational exchanges between cultures are not balanced. Hegemonic cultures, especially Anglo-American cultures become the greatest exporter with relatively much less import in translation. On one hand, dominated cultures benefit a lot in terms of scientific, technological and academic development. But on the other hand, their superior status in dominated cultures are also great: the fast expansion of hegemonic cultures makes dominated cultures gradually marginalized, assimilated and falls into an aphasic state in international exchanges, thus leading to the dominant position of hegemonic cultures, especially Anglo-American culture in the world, a status obviously quite unfavorable for the mutual supplement and co-prosperity of all cultures. With the advent of cultural turn of translation in 20th century, there is a new turn in translation study, that is, power turn. This thesis firstly introduces and analyzes Foucault's power-discourse theory, and then talks about the postcolonial theory. The author analyzes the influence of discourse hegemony in translation process in terms of the translator and text. At the same time, supported by Venuti's translation theory, the effects of discourse hegemony on translation are studied.Based on these theories, the research is done by texts and statistics analysis. It is discussed that the discourse hegemony functions in practical translation activity. It explains how the translation serves the different groups under powerful control. The ideological barriers and rules of discourse conflicts are clearly showed. Finally, the paper puts forward some translation strategies to resist the discourse hegemony. The translators should improve their national consciouseness. The PaPer also Provides some Practical methods to solve theProblem of discourse hegemony.
