The Study On The Bu And Wu With Pronunciation But Without Meaning In The Classic Of Poetry

In the Classic of Poetry,there are thirteen examples of Bu(不)and Wu(無) with pronunciation but without meaning,which constantly impelled many experts of the various schools to hold different views on its annotations.Some of academic experts thought that these Bu(不)and Wu(無)were possessed of the concrete meaning and denoted the negative,some of them were of the opinion that these Bu(不)and Wu(無)only were pronounced without any meaning,and also some of them considered these Bu(不)and Wu(無)to be Pi(丕)and another Wu(毋).Such confused stiuations brought about numerous difficulties to comprehend the Clssic of Poetry fully and exactly.So the author proceeds with different annotations of the various schools to commence researching on Bu(不) and Wu(無)and then confirms these thirteen examples with pronunciation but without meaning according to the characteristics of the negative vocabulary and the expression of the poetry's context and purport.These words with pronunciation but without meaning are particuarly common in other ancient books and documents by the prevalence of Bu(不)and Wu(無).Last but not least, in this thesis,the author probes into the reasons for these Bu(不)and Wu(無) with pronunciation but without meaning starting with the isogeny relationship of the Sino-Tibetan language and the structural characteristics of Chinese syllables in ancient times from the aspects of its development and evaluation.
