Imagery ability is the ability of the subject to keep identical between the activities show in their minds during the course of imagery and the real activity. Nowadays, more and more attention is put on measuring the imagery ability. At the beginning of imagery research, Martin Imagery Skill Scale (MISS) has become the main instrument with the advantages of easy, convenient and low cost. But as a Scale, The MISS also has the common disadvantages, such as subjective and difficult to control.In partâ… , the paper takes the measurement, the experimentation and the Statistics to test on 120 subjects with MISS. Based on the scores of all, choose 21 as the high group and other 21 as the low group, which both contain 15 boys and 6 girls to take the mental rotation. The experiment show that there is no obvious difference between the high an the low on the standards of correct and response time. Whether the pictures are erected or inverted, there is no obvious difference for most of the pictures in different rotation angles, which can prove that the MISS is less creditability and we need to find a new one.Therefore, the part II bring in the Event-related potentials (ERP), and take the experimentation and the Statistics to choose 12 first-class athletes, which is called professional and 12 university students without professional training experience of Physical Education which is called non-professional. Adopt the classical Mental Rotation experiment and record the Event-related potentials while the objects doing the task and observe the changes of brain maps. During the mental rotation of ERP experiment, the brainwave between first-class athletes university students without professional training experience of Physical Education has obvious differences. Compared with the university students without professional training experience of Physical Education, the brainwave of first-class athletes has a higher amplitude and shorter latency obviously, which explains that the objects with higher imagery ability are familiar with course of imagery and need less information when they do the imagery. So, they spent less time. And the amplitude is same.In a word, as an instrument of measuring the imagery ability, the mental rotation is objective and effective. After raising it to the level of neural science, it will be helpful to the future study. The brainwave can be the reference to the relative study.
