With perspectives of Literature, History, Religion, Taoism and Folk, this study, ranging from Six Dynasty to Ming and Qing Dynasty, including random notes of literati, novels, operas, religious documents and reading materials for civilian, is focused on the cult of Xu Xun and the literature and culture phenomenon stemmed from the cult, and tries to acknowledge and make the analysis on the features of a religion literature and the cause of its happening and developing. As the patriarch worshiped by his after, Xu Xun is not only a real person in history, as an individual, but also a real being narrated in literature works and religion canons. And there are uncountable ones, as an individual like Xu Xun and a story like Xu Xun's, in Chinese history of culture. In that means, this study can be seemed as a case or an attempt to study the history of figures_molding in Chinese religion. The main body of this study includes two sections. In section A, based on the analysis on documents about Xu Xun, this study involves the evolution of the legend of Xu Xun's killing dragon, the meaning of Xu Xun's images or his sacred names, etc. In section B, this study is focused on some single case involved in section A, such as the definition and features of Zhen_jun Opera, the relations between Xu Xun's sacred names and the history of the Jing_ming, the backgrounds of the legend of Xu Xun's killing dragon as some religion war, etc. Furthermore, as the appendix, this study includes a compiling and amending of A Biography of the Twelve Perfected Lords of Jin Dynasty in Mount. West(Jin Xi Shan Shi Er Zhen Jun Zhuan), a compiling and amending of A Record on Mount. West(Xi Shan Ji), an amending of the four sacred biographies about Xu Xun collected in Canons of Taoist and a collecting of the documents of stone memorials about Xu Xun and the Taoist Sect of Jing_ming.
