Study On Shui Variants Characters

Shui characters are used among Shui People in Gui District as an inner religious character. Its complicated situation and various reasons in Shui People's history and culture lead to the existence of many variant characters. This thesis studies the whole Shui variant character system, and then abstracts the different characteristics of Shui variant character system, analyzes and discusses the causes of these characteristics. Meanwhile, through the study of Shui variant character system some remain problem about the whole Shui character system have been solved.Major conclusions of this thesis are as follows:1. Shui variant character were made from three different sources;2. Shui variant character system has many forms of character types. Every of the which record one word belongs to different forms of character types. And the variant characters belong to the same group always indicate the process of development of different forms of character types.3. Because of the different sources of characters, the situation of the types of Shui variant character is also intricate.4. Due to the inside reasons, the optional use and the special culture attributes of Shui characters, a lot of special characters exist in Shui variant character system.5. newly-made Shui characters indicate the development of Shui characters under the influence from the Han characters.6. Shui character system is a kind of word- ideographic Written Language which is not in a completely immature stage. Because of the different sources of characters, the idiographic study of the quality of the system should be applied in the field of every source of the characters.
