The National Characteristics Study Of Chinese Book Design

Under the present background of design language internationalization, the national characteristics of every nation's book design language became less obvious. Under the open social condition, we should not discard our nation's traditions while study other nation's excellent production, and we should direct book design practice by establishing Chinese contemporary design system while use foreign culture for reference, that is the important subject which designers faced. So how to inherit and develop national design's traditional production? In other words, where is Chinese book design's national characteristic embodied? How should we understand and grasp it? This thesis tried to find the answer from China's history books design development process.National characteristic of art expression which had a profound culture background and a long history is in a constant development, it is the national embodiment of national culture and spirit. We should use the theory of history materialism to study Chinese book design language's national characteristic. First, we should review its development process from ancient times to modern times, also, we should study the influence which the economy, politics, science and technology, cultural environment impact on, we can see that Chinese book design's national characteristic came into being gradually and will develop continuously, it will keep on developing and should not copy and keep to steadiness.Chinese book design emphasizes verve, spirit-resonance, moral sentiments, it reflects in the form, that is, the technique emphasizes decoration, the material emphasizes pliancy, the letterform emphasizes art, it emphasizes the combination of kind and beauty and embodies the aspect of Chinese national character' s detachment. Because of the different religion belief, "husiasm" , "innervation" , "manliness" in west culture is the aspect which we should supplement. This is developing direction which we seek balance.Chinese book design art pursues static in dynamic and a elegance bookishness, the reason is mainly about the influence of "the harmony of man with nature" philosophy. The inheritance of national tradition dose not only means excavating old things, but also need us to grasp it in dynamic. We should harmonize the relationship of localization and internationalization, and make it receive a diversified developing state in international culture communication.
