Urban Independent Female

During the long process of the feudal society, women lost the dominant position of their own sex, was pushed to the backstage in history, with their sense being sheltered and the power being stripped away. Until the early 20th century, with the improvement of women's education, social participation opportunities for increased economic independence, women's self-consciousness has gradually regained. A large number of women have begun boarding the social and literary scene. In Hong Kong, which has experienced a hundred years of colonial rules and has been in the position of having the impact of Eastern and Western civilizations, women's independence is of more practical significance, for in such situations a new generation of women has been growing up with a strong and more distinctive female consciousness, and Yi Shu is a representative of those.In the early 1980's Yi Shu's feminist novels and Qiong Yao's novels as the important Love Story works in Hong Kong and Taiwan have been introduced into the main land. However at that time their works did not receive any special attention. In the late 1990s, with the rapid development of the mainland economy, an urban white-collar women as the main role in the Yi Shu's novels has begun to be hotly chased, and her novels have even been referred to as white-collar women textbooks, Yi Shu has also become the highest hit rate writer in the literature web. There are about 100 novels, hundreds of short stories and essays at the website. In 1999 the publication of "Yi Shu Legend" by Zhong Xiaoyi marks the start of the study of Yi Shu's novels in the mainland. From 2001 till now, there are several research papers in various academic journals.Having read the works by Yi Shu, on the basis of analysis and intensive reading, the author has her own understanding on the new female Kingdom and the new ethical order which are constructed in Yi Shu's works. The author has also discussed the way and method in which the female fought in Yi Shu's works. The female focused on economic independence but also had access to the independent spirit. At the same time those women fought together against the pressure from the male society. Holding the practical and utilitarian attitude, they sought for the meaning of life and the realization of the life's value. At the end of this paper, the author has made a simple introduction to the narrative strategy used by Yi Shu so as to make the readers feel Yi Shu novel's unique charm.
