Three Contexts Six Artists

Figure painting in meticulous style is one of the most important subjects in Chinese traditional painting. From Han to Tang dynasty, It's used by artists to describe history issues, portray the social life, express their religious,belief and feelings. It turned out to be very distinguished in Tang dynasty. However, as the prevail of literati painting in Song dynasty, it begun to lost its vitality. At the beginning of the 20th century, along with the blend of artistic idea and form from Eastern and Western worlds, figure painting in meticulous style found the chance to revive. LiuXie said,"Things changes as time flies."The basic reason of why arts kept on evolving and developing was that the objective world changed. The changings of social environment made artists feel different and interesting, then, they created new style arts to express their feelings. The modern figure painting in meticulous style nourished by the cream both of western countries and native sculptural arts, vividly portray the social life and the spirit of times. Their effort gave the modern figure painting in meticulous style indefinite potential and vitality.In recent years, artists still made unremitting efforts to promote its development. This is not simply a renew of traditional arts, After the communication and conflict in this century, the Modern figure painting in meticulous style got a whole new meaning, it began to transfer from the classic style to the modern style.The three parts at the beginning of this thesis attempt to explore the features and developments of the figure painting in meticulous style in three typical periods, In part four , in order to clean the way of thought of its general development, I made a comparison of six artists'paintings, These progress are expected to implicate the future creation and promote the new renovation.Tradition is a progress, it's an active journey, What we create today will be the tradition of tomorrow. Figure painting in meticulous style in modern world is developing with the times, it's not stick to the traditional way of painting, it absorb another way of Chinese painting, together with the features of western modern arts. We create a new system of modern arts, it belongs to the whole times.
