Study On Preposition In The Annals Of Zhanguo Ce

In Chinese vocabulary the preposition is extremely important,to which the research has been paid attention since long time. In the ancient period the research on it did not form as systematical theory,so the preposition that time is of valuable importance to be studied. Zhanguo Ce is one of the most representative historical essays in Qin period,which is very helpful for the study on the languages in that period. This article was focused on the preposition in Zhanguo Ce through overall observations and studies.Further descriptions and analyses helped to found the basis on which the characteristics of the prepositions that time could be learned and the detailed language fact could be offered to the systematic research on the ancient prepositions.The first part in the paper is the introduction. The meaning and value of the research on Zhanguo Ce and its prepositions were introduced and the studies on the prepositions since the past were summarized. Furthermore,the definition and classification of the prepositions in this paper were discussed;the research method,aim,edition used in this paper etc. were clarified.The second part is the analyses on the prepositions. The quantitative analysis method was used to classify the twenty-four prepositions appeared in Zhanguo Ce for further analysis and description. First of all,as the location of preposition and its object appeared in the sentence , all the prepositions were divided into two categories-before and after predication. Then on the basis of it,the use of prepositions was divided into six categories by the grammatical meanings of the object-cited places,cited time,cited objects,cited reasons and ways, cited aims and cited ranges. Detailed analyses and descriptions on each preposition were given according to the classifications of them in the paper.The last part is the conclusion. Through the analyses and descriptions on the prepositions in Zhanguo Ce,conclusion was summarized and given. On one hand,tabulation method was used to show the use situations and characteristics of the prepositions in Zhanguo Ce directly,on the other hand,the conclusion was given by comparing and analyzing the use situations of the prepositions in Zhanguo Ce and that of the prepositions in Zuo Zhuan..
