As unable to evade the burgeoning, people are unable to evade the growth. Growth not only means the growth of individual physiology but also means the growth of spirit. Spiritual growth is particularly important also extraordinarily difficult. It is the spiritual growth while people experienced the rites of passage on the true meaning. It changes the natural people to social people, which makes people become highly independent and highly sociable.The process of female's growth face even more daunting task compared with male: the real growth of female means they shake off the shackles of male's main value. They have find and realize themselves in this growing process. When female's self-awakening process linked to other elements in people's growing process, female face more challenges and difficulties. For women, the growing process means a hard "Rites of Passage", women must experience the hardships of life and get through this "threshold", and then they can walk up to mature.In this paper, the author tries to analyze the female growth theme in western literature using anthropological perspective from the rites of passage. The author analyzes the common factors and basic structure in the growth theme works of women, as well as a characterization of female's growth through the rites of passages and probes into the deeper social meaning of female's growing theme: female growth is actually a female self- awareness, and walk into society through the rites of passage. The paper is divided into four parts:Chapter I: Theory and concept summarization. Netherlands scholar Gennap's "Rites of Passage" theory as the starting point and expounded on the significance of the theory to the growing theme works. At the same time straightened out and define clearly the scope of growth, growth novels, growth theme, the theme of female growth and other key concepts. ChapterII: Expatiate of the inner links between female growth theme and the Rites of Passage. This chapter starts with many growth theme works of female, to find and explore their common factors, and analyze the basic structure of female growing process: separation stage - transition stage - integration stage in the process, as well as other factors interludes in the process, Through the summarization of this basic structure and its related factors to analyze the specialty of female growth.Chapter III: Analyze the females who failed in growth process. Not all tests can succeed; the same is the case with the growth process. There are countless examples that female met failure in the growing process in western literature. This chapter takes the failure of female growth as examples, to analyze the reasons why female was unable to complete the self-growth process. Fundamentally speaking, for female who was unable to finish the process of self-growth, and smoothly transited to the society, the reasons can be attributed to two aspects of self and society: self-identity confusion and the individual power doomed to failure.Chapter IV: Probe into the significance of female growing process to the socialization process of female. Before becoming a real social person, female is affiliated with the male and the family. It is necessary that only female takes the initiative of the old separation, accept social transformation and smoothly pass the test before she passes the threshold of sex, life, society and so on, and be recognized and accepted by society, getting the corresponding social position and realizing the self- growth of female.In this sense, the growth process of female means the beginning of female's social development. To the overwhelming majority of women, growth is difficult and painful,meanwhile it is an indispensable process for women walking into the society and realizing their self-value. In a word, the growth of women is a "Rites of Passage" and only through this process, can women gain access to the main social passes, will they enjoy the pursuit of social status and self-worth.
