| This thesis is the sum-up of Mr. Xu Yuan Zhong's literature translation theory. In the translation career of 60 years, summarizing his own literature translation experiences, inheriting Fu Lei and Yan Fu's dissertation, Mr. Xu Yuan Zhong not only accumulated his own unique translation theories system, but also made the comparison on the Chinese and foreign cultues, poetry, translation theory and so on. Some viewpoints are inherited from forefathers, and some are original, thereby, Mr. Xu's comparison theory. Because being aware the limit of the traditional translation theory, the theories what he proposed kept an eye on the translation from four dimensions. Mr. Xu's translation theory contains four parts: ontology, epistemology, methodology and teleology. The inheritance and innovation are both in Mr. Xu's translation theory. The forming of his theory marks the end of Chinese translation theory. There are many vexed arguments about Xu's theory in the translation world, but how to judge and evaluate his theory? Through clearing up, theory, systematically analyzing, and comprehensively discussing, this thesis evaluate and judge the status and the function of Mr. Xu Yuan Zhong's literature translation, especially the " taking advantage of the target language theory" and the "rivalry theory". At the same time, the thesis analyzed some viewpoints which refuted Mr. Xu's views. And some theories and viewpoints, which are easily syste distorted and misunderstood, are explained. Besides, Mr. Xu Yuan Zhong's theory integrated the popularity and applicability. And the thesis analyzed the main features of Mr. Xu's theories, and pointed out the main reasons. At last, the thesis demonstrated the breakthrough and limitation of Xu's theory system, in order to make more translators understand Mr. Xu's theory, and make them guide the practice with these theory and make them contribute in their powers to the conversion from the literature translation to the translated literature. |
