Approach To JiYun's Novel Theory

As a master in Qianlong and Jiaqing period in the Qing Dynasty, JiYun had a diligent performance in the fields of novel theory and fiction writing.YueWei Cottage Notes won the high praise in the history of Classical Chinese Novel in the Qing Dynasty.But the predecessors didn't give more concern on the JiYun's novel theory.This paper analyses JiYun's novel theory according to some fragmentet materials previous,and give a deep reseach to the factos and affecion of the JiYun's novel theory.We can better know JiYun's novel theory and his impact in the history of novel theory in the Qing Dynasty.First,according to the criticism to the Liaozhai Zhiyi,we can think about the ontology concept of JiYun 's novels.There are two factors about JiYun'dissatisfing to Liaozhai Zhiyi:the one hand ,it has a confusion stylistic,the other hand,it's a fiction and painted meticulous,it didn't meet the narrative standards.We can come to the conclusion about JiYun's novel theory.He wanted a pure fiction style and pursuit the record,exclused the fiction.In the sequence of the SikuQuanshu General Catalog which is written by JiYun,we can see his view about the novel function.There are three roles:correctional advising,increase their knowledge,be ready for reference.The first,providing the advice,it's an important criterion which are evalue the novel critique and narratives.JiYun defined the novel as narrative style,but classified novel as ZI category(mainly to debate),because he wanted the novel maintain a single style,and both carring the asvising function.Education should be the keynote of the novel in JiYun's mind.The second,increasing people's knowledge.We can see many examples in YueweiCottage Notes.there are many unheard things in the fictions such as poisonous mushrooms,huge wild boar and maverick.and solemn ruins of Beiting Guarding House.These are refershing things to peple who lived in Beijing and added their curiosity,broaden our horizon.The third,be ready for reference.Due to the tradition of Confucius and Mencius ,and the practical impact of Ming and Qing Dynasties.JiYun expressed a perspective that opposit the empty and pay more attention to the ideological.and attached it to the novel function.At the view of the peple, JiYun recorded many historical events in his narratives.such as locust incasion ,drought and so on.These records are more vivid than hitorical events.and it's more convincing.The fiction also amended some erroneous historical events and reduce the history a true face.For example,the hearsay about WeiZhongxian substitute tu die.Peple will have a more comprehensive understanding of history,it can provide detailed materials for future history and biography research.This shows that Ji's novel theory pay attention to the records and oppsite the fiction,the literary has disappeared.This is not consistent with the understanding of modern fiction.It seems as a consercative even retrogressive view today.The causese of the novel concept ,we can concluded four.Firstly, that is the awareness of people towards to novels in all ages. In the notion, how to make the novels and learning not to break up and live apart influences the development and trend of the classical Chinese novels. Owing to the cognitive blur and confusion of the novel essence, people don't distinct the false or true when they create. The intermingle of actual person ,event and the fox, ghost registers this kind of specter strange affair as the real thing. The words of the classical Chinese novel have the demand of correct and simple. It conforms to the correct Confucian, opposes the excessive veneer, but the requirement of the colloquial novels is more loosely. It mainly uses more popular words, mostly using the common people as the heroes, truly reflects the beauty of the city affection. So it inosculates to the identities of the folk cultural novel.
