| The Italian composer Bellini, whose early death has become a pity in the history of opera, left us inexhaustible music treasure. Taking Bellini's masterpiece, Norma, as its subject, this thesis aims at analyzing its heroine, Norma, in the opera to achieve a further understanding of Bellini's special approach of music expression as well as his unique music language. This thesis consists of three parts: Introduction, Main Body and Conclusion.Partâ… is Introduction, which briefly introduces Bellini's position in the history of opera, his accomplishments and his influence on the world.Partâ…¡is composed of four chapters. Chapter one describes his life and music career as an opera talent. Chapter two illustrates in detail Bellini's approach of composing and his accomplishments as a melody master. Chapter three is the focus of the thesis. It presents the author's analysis on Norma from four perspectives. It analyses the composer's patriotic passion embodied in music on the basis of Bellini's life and other historical facts, reflecting the composer's intention to call on people to fight against foreign oppression; by analyzing the development of the heroine's character, it explores and discusses the dramatic music measures taken by Bellini in describing the character as well as his way of revealing the emotional changes of the heroine in the complicated conflicts. Chapter four describes Bellini's contribution to the world from the perspective of the development of opera and bel canto.Partâ…¢is conclusion, which summarizes Bellini's opera composition in his short-lived life. |
