As a new technical means, Internet has become an effective instrument for college students to study science and culture. As a virtual space of activities and place of human communications, Internet has greatly attracted college students' attention, for it is characterized as convenient, swift and virtual. But whether these features will have an impact on students' psychological health, which is the focus of this paper.Through questionnaires and interviews (conducted among the students of Harbin Engineering University), this paper, which concentrates on the network communication of college students, makes a systematic analysis of this subject—the impact of college students' network communication on their psychological health. And in light of the collected data and relevant analyses, this paper tests the following three hypotheses.Firstly, the network communication is apparently related to psychological health. Ultimately we found out that the total points of network communication changes in direct proposition to the factors, total marks and positive items; the negative results of network communication and its negative psychological results seem to be in direct proportion to the specific factors of psychological health.Secondly, during the process that network communication affects psychological health, it is inevitably influenced by the variables of demography and internet use. And after testing the hypothesis, we notice that, besides the above two variables, the impact of network communication on psychological health is mainly brought about by the psychological behavior of communication subject. Therefore, a creative conclusion has been drawn in this paper that if one's daily on-line time is less than one and a half hour, his/her psychological health appears to be poor.Thirdly, the nature of this impact can not be judged by utilizing the "pathology" Internet. And through testing the hypothesis, we conclude that network communication can make a remarkable impact on psychological health of both ordinary and pathology internet users; the total points of network communication have much with psychological factors, total marks and positive items. In addition, this paper, on the basis of scientific study of psychology, originally conducts the study by employing the approach of mental scale and adopts more data as evidence. And the significance of this paper lies in the following: on one hand, it offers some sound data for further study; on the other hand, because of analyzing the relationship between network communication and psychological health, this paper can be used as a reference in promoting and enriching the study on this subject.
