Journalistic translation is assuming a heavier responsibility, which calls for the advance in journalistic translation. News reporting is a dynamic communication process in certain social and cultural environment involving complex cognition activities. Its socio-cognitive nature justifies the study of journalistic translation study from a cognitive perspective as necessary.Cognitive linguistics holds that the cognition, reasoning, comprehension language, etc are based on the experience of the objective world. Translation is a cognitive activity involving the interactions between cognitive agents and between the reality world and cognitive world..Context study has been closely connected with translation study in that context is an indispensable factor in translating practice. Cognitive context is a break-through in the cognitive study. This thesis has made a comprehensive comparison between traditional context study and cognitive context study and finds out that cognitive context distinguishes itself being humane, dynamic and a gestalt. Thus cognitive context is more adaptable to a cognitive view of translation and to the explanation of the context's functions in translating process.Through detailed data analysis, this thesis found that cognitive context influences journalistic translation in terms of the selection of source news text, the comprehension of source news texts, the production of targeted news texts and the translator's creativity in translation and proposed that it is necessary for the translator to take full advantage of dynamics of cognitive context to constantly extend his cognitive contexts for the improvement of journalistic translation quality.
