The Deconstruction Of Translation By Visual Culture: From The Intertextual Perspective

We are in the age which visual culture is coming; the age is arrived along with the revolutionary changes to modern medium. As the new branch of cultural study, Visual culture has brought significant influences on Philosophy, Aesthetics, Linguistics, and Semiotics and so on. In this sense, translation studies are no exception. The aims of this thesis are to explore the nature of the visual culture and the deconstruction of translation in some aspects under the influence of this newly born cultural phenomenon. Based on the theory of Intertextuality, the new intertextual phenomenon in the new text will be put into further analysis. By this way, we can discover a series of deconstructions and reconstructions in its consequence of the translation resulted from the new of interpretation in texts.Such alteration of translation study is a good attempt, and has relatively strong academic and realistic meanings. It is not only in line with the current social trend, cultural development and the historical progress, but also is a great impetus for translation promotion. In terms of vision, the thesis states the transfer from macro analysis to micro examine, and again to macro analysis.Theoretically, translation is undergoing the transition from elite culture to decentralism. Many translation variations usher their deconstructions with the rearrangement to original work. Viewed from textual mode, visual culture brings us new mixed text of "visualities-words". Due to the invasion of visualities, the cohesion, coherence and the system of originality are interrupted. As a result, a multiple and mixed text come into being with new intertextuality of "visualities-words". At the same time, the reader's reading habit and aesthetic appreciation are also greatly changed. Readers shift their attention from the reading of words to the meditation of visualities, resulting in the challenges and intertextuality in reanding process. Based on these four points, this thesis is going to make an analysis to the deconstruction of translation from the perspective of intertextuality.
