Ever since Rubin firstly described the common characteristics of good language learners, people have come to realize that no single method of language teaching would lead learners to success and they have begun to see the importance of individual variation in language learning. Therefore, western researchers attempt to explore various learner variables which are supposed to influence their learning outcomes. This is known as individual differences research. Learners' beliefs about language learning constitute one of the important inquiries in this field.Bases on our college environment and related domestic and international research on language learning beliefs , and this research makes a questionnaire of college students'English learning beliefs and a questionnaire of influential factors of college students'English learning beliefs by use of bibliorgraphic analysis ,interview method and questionnaire survey. The final scale of college students'English learning beliefs altogether includes 24 items, composing of 5 dimensions: strategy beliefs, motivation beliefs, self-efficacy, mother-tongue reliance beliefs, language environment beliefs. The final scale of influential factors of college students'English learning beliefs altogether includes 16 items, composing of 4 dimensions: traditional factors, social development factors, self factors, other people factors. We assess 1018 college students with them. At the same time, as for college students'English learning beliefs and influential factors of college students'English learning beliefs, it does some research and analysis on their structures , differences of beliefs and influential factors by exploratory factor analysis, confirmatory factor analysis, and regression analysis.According to the research results, some main conclusions can be made:1. In this research, the self-made questionnaires of college students'English learning beliefs and influential factors of college students'English learning beliefs have a quite good reliability and validity,These questionnaires make a quite good reflection and explanation on the situation and differences of college students'English learning beliefs and its influential factors.2. The higher-achievers and female students had high scores in self-efficacy beliefs.3. The result indicated that female students had a higher level of motivation and strategy use in language learning.4. College students of English mayor get higher scores than other mayors in learning strategy, self-efficacy, but lower scores in language environment and mother-tongue reliance beliefs.5. Lower grade students get higher scores than higher grade students in learning strategy, mother-tongue reliance beliefs, but lower scores in self-efficacy and language environment.6. College students from countryside get higher scores than those from city in mother-tongue reliance beliefs, but the difference is not clear in other dimensions.7. Influential factors of college students'English learning beliefs can make a full explanation on the variations of college students English learning beliefs,different factors have influential degree difference, and the order of their different strength(from strength to weakness)is: other people factors, self factors, social development factors, traditional factors.
