Harmonious society needs harmonious education which is necessarily based on harmonious classroom. The construction of harmonious classroom is always carried out by certain disciplines. The proposing of harmonious English classroom, based on the ground of constructing harmonious society, advocating harmonious education, is just directed against some inharmonious phenomena. The construction of harmonious English classroom aims to realize a dynamic and enactment state that embodies subject characters with all the factors developing cooperatively. Harmony of English classroom includes cognitive harmony, emotional harmony and developmental harmony, and also harmonies in four aspects: teaching objectives and students' proficiency, students' subjects and teachers' guidance, teaching skills and learning strategies, individual diversity and all-round development. The realization of it has something to do with the guarantee of students' subjective position, develop students' spirit of cooperative and inquiry, break through the traditional mode of English classroom and converse to open and multi-diversion mode. It is not only the subjective requirement to improve the English comprehensive abilities, but also the needs of the objective trend of the new curriculum reformation. The research begins with realistic problems of English classroom, analyzes the inharmonious position, seeks for the theoretical supports, states the essence and the characters of the English classroom , then proposes the strategies of solutions. Based on the above thoughts, the dissertation consists of the following parts:Preface: Introduction of the research in origin, thinking clues, methods, significance and value, and research departure point. Firstly, review the relative research products in harmonious classroom, harmonious English classroom and English teaching. Secondly, define the core concepts.Part one: Matter analysis. To classify and analyze the inharmonious English classroom state-quo: inappropriate understanding and use of teaching methods; lack of holistic and deep exploration of contents; deviation of teaching objects orientation and arrangement; short of cooperative inquiry mechanism in teaching procedure; requirements to improve and adjust teaching environment.Part two: Theoretical bases. Combined with reality, the research has the following four theoretical bases: theory of harmonious education, theory of ecology of education, theory of intercultural communication.Part three: Design of aspiration. According to the theoretical bases, to elaborate the essence of harmonious English classroom and the correspondent features of differentiation, culture, plural-head and communication.Part four: Strategies of matter. The research explore from four aspects: firstly, to establish the spirit of dialogue and the equal relationship between teachers and students; secondly, to cultivate awareness of culture and set up plural-head teaching projects; thirdly, to emphasize inquiry and cooperation, to advocate task-based teaching method; fourthly, to concern the classroom environment and try to foster better educational ecology.Conclusion: To conclude the meaning and the strategies of constructing harmonious English classroom, and point out the fields that need further study in future.
