Today,western feminism,whose pioneer had once been considered as Plato,has attracted more and more concern.Therefore,to elaborate Plato's feminine view and understanding of its ideological content,progress and limitations will has far-reaching practical significance on the contemporary feminist's research and development. This paper mainly from Plato's works,and taking into account of the culture of the ancient Greek,social traditions,the social characteristics of city and other factors to research on Plato's view of women.Now will be discussed from the following parts:Forward It points out that the significance of this subject,its present's research condition both at home and abroad,as well as to pay attention to the related issues.Part One It discusses generally from Plato's early works,to find his early views on women's issues.Among them,the emergence of female philosopher in《Symposium》,let us see his side open to women.Part Two Plato on women's issues focused on the two:Firstly,in Republic,Plato's Socrates put forward two proposals about women: invited certain women into the Guardians class and abolish nuclear family and private property.At the same time,Plato's proposals let the women get the right to education,right to vocational opportunity,and they can acquire legal capacity and political rights.These ideas won him a lot of respect for feminists.Secondly,once again on the issue of women to think in《Laws》and revised the previous certain viewpoints so that the recommendations may achieve,but also more clearly reveal his real feminine view.Plato's proposals solely in terms of benefit and good to the state,and make no reference to women's desires or needs.Part Three From the era where Plato,the social environment and their own system of philosophy to explore his female ideological roots.Conclusion Despite various constraints,Plato's thinking on women's issues far below the standards of today's feminism.However,taking into account the times of Plato,we still can not deny the progressive significance of Plato's feminine view.
