| The works of famous Japanese writer Kawabata Yasunari(1899-1972) has been paying get much attention by Japanese commentators. Kawabata Yasunari uses the Western literary skills in his works and shows extremely subtle beauty of oriental literature, his works deeply rooted in traditional Japanese literary aesthetic, and he has made innovation and exploration in previoe writing skills. The works of Kawabata Yasunari are rich in aesthetic value. The paper explore the aesthetic characteristics of Kawabata's fictions mainly from the following three prongs.First, Kawabata Yasunari's fictions are beautiful and fine and sad .His aesthetic conceptions cann't be inseparable from traditional Japanese aesthetics, whose"sorrow"exotic has a great influence on Kawabata Yasunari'sworks."Sorrow"of tragedy included many emotions."Things of sorrow"indicated the relationship between the giver and the receiver:"objects"are the object things,"sorrow"is the subject's response. The Japanese traditional aesthetics points out that people should understand all living things in the world, especially the sad mood, and such feelings. This characteristic of Yasunari Kawabata's fictions is in accordance with the traditional aesthetics——the characters in the stories or the novels are moved by what they see, which naturally wells up in their mind.In addition, Kawabata Yasunari's literature resambles the aesthetic situation advocated by Japanese classical literature. Poetic flavor can only be sensed but not be explained in words. The beauty of poetry is not to be explained clearly and cann't be, the poetry realism should be mysterious and deep and interesting and far-reaching. Kawabata often omits many portrayals and confession in his fictions to maintain its manuscript situation, leaving the audience sufficient room for appreciating the aesthetic, and which is accordance with that of Japanese classical poetry, Chan, Japanese painting, the Tea Ceremony is the sanme concept for the pursuit of the arts.Kawabata is certainly influenced by the Western Literary conception in his literary creation in particular the are characteristic. Through the literary practice, Kawabata slowly achieved his own road where he combined the Western literary techniques with the art of Japanese Literary concepts, so that his stories and novels have their own unique aesthetic characteristics and artistic style. Taking the Stream-of-consciousness technique for an example, the reference and innovation are mainly in the following three aspects: First, the consciousnesses are all associatied, they flow freely in the novels, and all the consciousnesses and images and symboles seem to be linked together, and also maintain the Japanese literary traditional style which is solid, well-knit and neat. Second, in Kawabata's fictions he describes the sense and psychology of people, the awarenesses of other people from the writer's perspective, positive and negative control from the point of extending to the entire space-time, the flow of consciousness Novels linked through the past and now, this time and that time ,and connected the memory which has gone and the present experience. Third, the fiction like celebrities, the description of consciousness is short and orderly and stable, it's out of the mess and mobile sense in the other novels, and the characters'changes and development in thought. Are clearly visible, it's rule-based.The fictions tied all the events in a generally flat surface, the emotional changes of characters are closely integrated with the development of the story, which is characterized traditional Japanese realistic literature.Yasunari's literature has been considered having a tendency of divorcing from reality and society in the field of Japanese commentary for a long time. In fact, Kawabata Yasunari is not to try to escape reality but to deeply think the problems of life and death, traditional and modern, East and West, which performed as a mysterious performance thinking, a kind of classical and illusory pursuit of the beauty. Kawabata Yasunari's fictions may seem out of the reality of society, but they are the novelist's performance of trying to explore himself and has its own aesthetic function. However, from the angly of the writer's attitude and creative ideas, Kawabata's fictions reflect more emotiones and feelings than the specific social reality. Compared to Japan's postwar desolate situation, Kawabata saw more recession of the traditional culture, and dispersal of the spirit in classical arts. From the inside of the works, Kawabata created a world beyond reality, abandoning all triviales of the community. The characteres in his works are not the characters in the real world, but the embodiment of modes of thought and even life and death, such realistic things have become a symbol in Kawabata's works. Yasunari Kawabata pointed out that a writer should be able to look beyond the level of his life to a higher realism, and consider the illusory things as the reality in literature. So the description of the figures and the world in Yasunari Kawabata's fictions has fantastic and beautiful features. Out of this kind of beauty, in his fictions the writer also has a still observation: he can get the essence of matter, close the reality. He has more incomparably profound and exquisite, vigorous and exploratory in the literary creation than the other writers. |
