The Investigation On The Service Condition Of "对" Construction In Text Of Modern Chinese

"对" construction is a common sentence in Chinese. The previous academia limits the research of it in quality of "对" and the sentence. They forget to analyze its usage in the passage. This article puts "对" construction in the dynamic text, applying with the discourse theory, and investigate the service conditions in text of modern Chinese systematically. In the end , this article will enlarge and enrich the study of "M" construction by given a new angle of view. There are six chapters in this article.The chapter I is the preface which generalizes the scope of the "对" construction. If the "对" is used as a preposition, and the "对" phrase acts as a adverbial, then this sentence will defined as "对" construction. "对" construction will be divided into three types:The chapter II and III systematically investigate the relation between the subject, the object of "对" construction and text respectively According to the research, the subject and object of "对" construction can not only be co-reference or associative anaphora with a certain word in the preceding context, but also can relate to the whole sentence of preceding context. Sometimes, the object of "对" construction also relate to the following context. In addition, the article investigates the differences of the "对 ₁" construction, "对₂" construction and "对₃" construction which are three types of "对" construction between the subject, object and text.The chapter IV analyzes the relation between the verb and text. The article finds out not only the relationship between verb of"对" construction and a certain element such as subject, object, predicate in the preceding context, but also the relationship between verb and the preceding context and following text.The chapter V investigates the relationship between the whole "对" constructions and text. This part mainly discusses two service conditions which"对"constructions is used as the beginning sentence and following sentence. Moreover, the article analyzes the information status of "对" constructions in text as background and foreground sentence. In addition, the article investigates the meaning containing in the semantic or logical relationship when"对" constructions connect with other sentences.The chapter VI investigates the service conditions of "对" construction in different styles. The article stresses on the difference of distribution, structure and pragmatic functions.
