| Thomas Hardy is one of the most excellent realistic novelist and poet in the 19th century. His novels are famous for the description of his hometown Wessex—a city in England, and therefore are called by the name "Wessex Novels". These novels describe the unexpected and huge changes in fields of society, economy, politics, ethics, and customs in England after the invasion of Capitalism, and the miserable fate of the broken farmers, and discover the potential crisis of the society in England which is under the mask of the Victorian thrive. From this famous novelist, we can feel deeply the tragic effects the fate brings, and this is exactly what moves the readers so dramatically and gives Hardy the unique status in world literature history."Wessex Novels" influenced many generations of people, and had large numbers of readers. Why are these novels so attracted and successful? From my point of view, this is mainly because of his creation of a new artistic style which is full of much attraction. This thesis attempted to explore and analyze the artistic style and significance of the "Wessex Novels" in the use of In-take Analysis and Psychological Analysis. At the same time, through the study of this research, I wish the artistic style of Hardy's novel can be arranged systematically, and furthermore to make the long-period shadow portion existed in his creation clearer, and to affirmhis unique status in English literature history once again. |
