| The interrelationship and interaction between music and ethics is an important part of the artistic ethical study. This thesis, taking music and morality as the object, discusses the interactive relationship between music and morality on the basis of the comparison between them. The final purpose is to make people realize that the relation between music and morality is of significance in people's daily life and should be paid much attention.For a long time, people pay too much attention to the aesthetic and recreational functions of music and art but ignore its ethical function. Music, as the embodiment of people's ideologies in real life, is bound to influence people's moral consciousness and behaviors. While people appreciate music, their moral level is enhanced to some extent. The process of cultivating people's morality by music is contained in the process of people's appreciating music. Therefore, cultivating consciousness of aesthetic appreciation can improve people's moral level and moral personality. In fact, A person of good music aesthetic cultivation tends to be a person of good ethics. Therefore the ethical development of a person can be helped by resorting to music and art.In our modern society, how to intensity the role of music in moral education is included in the agenda of people's concern. The current studies of music and ethics either focus on one-sided illustration of music or ethics, or the sole influence of ethics on people. There have not been studies that connect music and ethics together to explore the virtual essence of interrelationship between music and ethics.Based on thoughts of those above questions, this thesis consists of three parts:The first part starts with the relationship between music and ethics. It first defines the concept of music and ethics to make a theoretical basis for subsequent further analysis. Based on review and analysis of the literatures written by great thinkers, writers and philosophers at home and abroad in ancient, and modern times, this thesis points out that music and ethics are interconnected and interacted.The second part explores the interrelationship between music and ethics with a large space. It develops its ideas from 3 aspects: 1. the effect of music on ethics; 2.the approach of how music affects ethics; 3. the significance of music in purifying ethics. Then it further explores the effect of ethics on music from 3 perspectives including the ethical disciplines that governs music composition, the ethical guidance to music workers and the embodiment of ethics in music. Then, this paper cites plenty of substantial examples to demonstrate the significance of the interactive relation between music and morality.The third part discusses concrete methods of how to realize the interaction between music and morality in the present society from three aspects step by step: introduction to the thought of musical moral education, then its significance in constructing harmonious society and its significance in realizing the harmony between "the true, the good and the beautiful". This part suggests consciousness of aesthetic appreciation should be cultivated to realize the "Oneness of everything". In the last part, the paper indicates that the benign interaction between music and morality possesses not only theoretical significance but also practical significance in people's daily life. |
