Research objective: To measure the major type of psychological stress feeling of modern college students, and find the relationship between stress feeling and stress reaction.Research method: 1045 students in 9 colleges were administrated Stress Feeling Questionnaire of College Students and Stress Reaction Questionnaire of College Students which both were self-compiled. The result was analyzed with SPSS13.0.Results: There were 5 major factors of students'stress feeling, employment crisis (EC), love affair and feeling (LAF), academic performance (AP), teacher-students relationship (TSR), postgraduate degree pursuing (PDP). The sequence according to the degree of stress feeling was as follows: EC, PDP, AP, TSR and LAF.Female students reported higher stress feeling in EC, TSR and PDP than the male. Literature and history students showed higher stress feeling in EC and TSR than science and engineering students. Rural students felt higher stress feeling in AP, comparing to urban students. The total score of the students in 3 types of colleges had a significant difference. It was also different in EC, TSR, AP and PDP significantly.The stress feeling of different grade in TSR and AP had a significant difference. The stress reaction of college students could be classified into 4 factors. They were learning-ability declining, physical and emotional problem, passive mind and paranoid aptitude.On the correlation between TSR/PDP and total stress feeling, the female were significant, while the male were not; urban students were significant, while the rural were not. The single-child students had a significant correlation between TSR and total stress reaction, but the non-single-child did not. Different from the science and engineering students, the literature and history students had a significant correlation between PDP and the total stress feeling. Compared with other two types of colleges, only the common college students showed significant correlation between each stress feeling factor and the total stress reaction. To the key university students, there was a significant positive correlation between EC/LAF/AP/TSR and the total stress reaction. The correlation between EC/LAF and the total stress feeling of the students in community-run university was positive and significant. There were also differences on the correlation between stress feeling and stress reaction with four grades students.By the regression analysis about stress feeling and stress reaction, it was found that the 5 stress feeling factors could increase total stress reaction. The learning-ability declining was caused by EC, AP and LAF; passive mind was caused by EC, LAF, TSR and AP; paranoid aptitude was due to EC, TSR, LAF and PDP; physical and emotional problem caused by all the factors.Conclusion: The sequence according to the degree of stress reaction that be caused was as follows: EC, LAF, AP, TSR and PDP. AP induced learning-ability declining much easier. LAF induced physical and emotional problem much easier, as well as the passive mind. TSR induced the paranoid aptitude much easier. But the PDP was the most difficult factor to induce the stress reaction. |
