Abstract: In the late Qing Dynasty, China fell into graver and graver national crisis, which under the background of suffering the foreign aggressions and the western learning penetrated eastward. Facing the crisis, there was a prospect appeared in Chinese circle Of thinkers that, many kinds of thought had arisen in the same time again. In order to save the nation from subjugation, the outstanding people of intellectuals in the late Qing Dynasty called for the chivalry spirit publicly and, treated themselves as the chivalries. They not only discussed it, moreover practiced. Thus, the thoughts of advocating chivalry were created in the late Qing Dynasty. The theme of"the thoughts of modern society" is one of the hot topics in research of China modern history resent years. The research in the thoughts of advocating chivalry in the late Qing Dynasty, however, is weaker. This paper plans to make a more detailed elaboration on the thoughts of advocating chivalry in the late Qing Dynasty which people pay less attention.This article can be divided into three parts:First, introduce the society background and the cultural origin in which the thoughts of advocating chivalry arose. The turmoil situation in the late Qing Dynasty was the intrinsic reason why the thoughts of advocating chivalry arose took place, the external cause was Japan's samurai spirit, as well as the cultural origin the knight-errant atmosphere in Chinese tradition society.Second, talk about the connotation of the thoughts of advocating chivalry in the late Qing Dynasty. This part will elaborate from three aspects: (1) The connotation of the thoughts of advocating chivalry in the late Qing Dynasty; it concluded four aspects such as the spirit of dedicating oneself, equal consciousness, independent consciousness and advocating knight-errant's spirit. (2) Recasting national morals; the outstanding people of intellectuals in the late Qing Dynasty asserted recasting national morals by the chivalry spirit, in the meantime, they themselves were filled with the chivalry spirit. Who showed the spirit the most obvious were Tan Sitong and Zhang Taiyan. (3) Relations between the thoughts of advocating chivalry in the late Qing Dynasty and Confucianism, Mohism, and Buddhism.Third, discuss the influence of the thoughts of advocating chivalry in the late Qing Dynasty.â… , the influence to 1911 Revolution. 1. As a kind of external ideology, anarchism had to depend on the knight-errant atmosphere when disseminating to China, because the knight-errant atmosphere was one of traditional thoughts resources according to which, Chinese anarchists could understand their faith.
