In this foundation, Iclassified the XIWEN in Tang Dynasty according to the the function.Generallyspeaking,they can be divided into four kinds: to give explicit instructions or directionsand persuade enemy to surrender, to denounce or disclose the evil or error of enemmy,to draft or call the sodiers or the officials, to appoint or employ somebody. Thecontent of the XIWEN in Tang Dynasty was abundant:they had reflected politicalor military struggle in Tang Dynasty, had reflected the daily life and prevailingcustom in Tang Dynasty,had reflected some situations of ideology.The XIWEN in Tang Dynasty had also reflected the traditional culture ofChina, they had reflected the idea of military strategist, had reflected the thought ofConfucianists, had also reflected Taoism's certain thought in the certain degree. Themain creator of the XIWEN in Tang Dynasty were the scholars who worked in thegeneral's office, like Luo Binwang, Wang Bo, Li Shangyin, Cui Zhiyuan,Hu Zeng,Wei Zheng, Fang Yanzao, Zu Junyan and so on.
