Prairie film is a very important part of Chinese film. Based on the history of Chinese film, this thesis divided Chinese prairie film since 1949 into four periods: newly established period, developing period, prosperity period and exploration period. This thesis analyzes some representative works and summarizes the characteristic of four periods. Prairie film in newly established period attracts country leader's much attention, which influences the film's development. Prairie film in developing period leaves less impression to society although there are a large number of films. Prairie film in prosperity period develops to a certain level, in this period some excellent Inner Mongolian directors appeared and nature characteristic has a perfect presentation. Prairie film in exploration period pays attention to how to treat destructed development and how to face the deteriorated survival environment as well as our self-identification that we have to give up and so on.Based on history development of Chinese prairie film, this thesis attempts to analyze the culture that prairie film carried: heroic complex and benevolence mood. This thesis takes horse to cut into the spot, analyze the historical cultural artistic conception.
